Branch Chipping
If you’ve just pruned your trees or have a fallen limb on your property, branch chipping may be a good course of action for you as you clear brush from your land. Clearing brush and debris for your land is important for reducing the risk of fires and attracting pests. It also improves the look of your property and increases curb appeal. Branch chipping is a way to not only rid your property of brush, but to repurpose your branches into wood chips or mulch.
Branch chipping may not be the best home care project for everyone. It requires high-end equipment that not all everyday people have readily available access to. Some hardware businesses will allow you to rent a wood chipper, you will just need to check with your local stores. If you do not have access to a wood chipper, you will need to contact a business, like us here at Dynamic Arborist, to come out and chip your debris and branches for you.
If you’re able to chip your own branches, the process of branch chipping is quite straightforward; you simply add sections of wood or tree brush to your wood chipper, and you will acquire a pile of fresh wood chips. These wood chips can then be used as a nutrient-dense mulch to supplement your tree growth, a colour-contrasting way to elevate your landscape design, or can help lock-in moisture and prevent evaporation for the root systems of your plants. Using wood chips in landscaping is multi-functional and has significant benefits. Being able to use your own branch chips also eliminates any worry of wood chips being too processed by chemicals (as you may find in store-bought wood chips).
